This National Natural Landmark of old-growth forest and gorges in the Zoar Valley Area is managed by The Nature Conservancy with miles of trails near the South Branch of Cattaraugus Creek.
What to See
A view of the top of Deer Lick Falls, old trees in the old-growth forest, miles of trails, a view of gorge from four hundred feet above South Branch of Cattaraugus Creek, Deer Lick Creek ravine and cascades and more.
From the Deer Lick Conservation Area brochure:
The Deer Lick Conservation Area possesses many unique features, but its two
most striking aspects are its gorges and old-growth trees. The forests have
flourished and endured because dramatic terrain makes them difficult to access,
and protects them from severe wind and storms.
Trees
Ancient Sugar Maple, American Beech, and Black Cherry trees, some over 100' tall.
Trails
Blue Trail, Red Trail, Orange Trail, White Trail, Yellow Trail
