One of the region’s most beautiful and treasured landmarks. Built in 1909, with funds provided by the philanthropist Andrew Carnegie, this elegant work of art was designed by architect Edward L. Tilton in the Beaux-Arts style, complete with original bookcases, a grand staircase, and two fireplaces.
The Old Library Restaurant is a lively, upscale-casual venue full of Old-World charm and Art Deco flare, paying tribute to the history of Olean's prohibition-era with our casual speakeasy vibe. Step up to The Prohibition Bar, and step back in time to the Gangster Era. Our hand-carved mahogany backbar is from the Cattleman's Steakhouse in Chicago, where Al Capone was a frequent guest --- just ask your bartender to point out the bullet holes! This exquisite historical landmark was listed on the National and State Register of Historic Places in 1985.
